Chattahoochee animal clinic monthly specials

Happy September everyone! I wanted to make quick mention of few things that we have noticed on the rise in our patients at Chattahoochee Animal Clinic and touch on the importance of preventatives. We have noticed an increase of heartworm disease in some of our patients. August was a good month for team mosquito, but a bad month for team Roswell Pets. So, if your dog or cat is not on heartworm prevention or if you have not had him/her tested in the past year, please come by our office in Roswell, Georgia to discuss the importance of both prevention and testing. Heartworm disease can be deadly to dogs and cats, so it is vital to have your loved one protected.

Moving on to topic #2, I have seen several dogs and cats come in with severe flea infestation. Some of these pets were on monthly flea preventative and some were not. Remember, it is important to look at the big picture when it comes to flea prevention. Especially, here in Roswell, Georgia where the Chattahoochee River is in our backyard! You must be proactive in the environment, as well as on the animal. So treatment of the yard is usually necessary to decrease exposure of fleas to your pet and if you notice fleas on your pet, then treatment of the house by a qualified exterminator is recommended. Make sure that you are applying your topical flea treatments to the dog or cat properly as described by manufacturer instructions. If you are uncertain about the application technique, then we at Chattahoochee Animal Clinic would be more than happy to help you. And always use a flea preventative that is recommended by your veterinarian. Remember, the manufacturers of most flea preventatives ONLY warranty their efficacy if sold through veterinarians, so be sure to purchase your flea preventatives from your local vet.

I hope this information is helpful and remember if you need any assistance or advice in any animal topic please give us a call at Chattahoochee Animal Clinic. 770.993.6329.
