Chattahoochee animal clinic monthly specials

Great news pet parents!! Our dogs and cats are living longer than ever before. Why do you ask? Well, pet parents and veterinarians are teaming together to provide more preventative care than ever before. Most pet parents are not waiting to take their pets into the vet only when they are sick. Pet parents are getting smarter...they are following the recommendations of their veterinarians, and bringing these pet kids in for preventative exams more often then not. Especially their senior pets, who on average need more preventative care than the younger crowd.

Just like our growing needs as we age, our pet's needs change too, at an even faster rate as they get older. Chattahoochee Animal Clinic believes, that even though there are guidelines we follow for generalized pet care, we treat each pet is an individual and customize their preventative and illness care when indicated. In saying that here are some simple guidelines that can help your senior pet stay healthy, happy, and vital:

  • Bi-yearly preventative exams are essential to your senior pet’s health. Since their bodies go through changes much quicker than humans, early detection is key to keeping them healthy longer. Age-related diseases can be subtle, and symptoms may be easy to missed by the untrained eye.
  • So we perform exams which can detect external changes in your pet...but what is going on inside? Well, one of the ways that we can keep tabs on organ function and blood counts is through senior organ function screening. Bloodwork helps us establish a baseline for health, and can help us get a clear picture of how your pet kid is doing from the inside out. Even small changes in organ function can be indicative of a bigger problem ahead.
  • Flip that lip! Dental health is detrimental in keeping our body healthy & happy. At home dental health is very important, but a professional look at those teeth and gums can help your veterinarian assess fractures, infection, gingivitis and help make recommendations for cleanings. We believe so much in having a healthy mouth, that we perform dental assessment exams at every opportunity.
  • So, your pet seems to be slowing down? Are we just getting lazy, or are we starting to show signs of arthritis? One way to help determine if arthritis is the culprit, is through radiology. Being able to assess range of motion and muscle loss can be established during our exams, but to determine the extent of arthritis can only come from taking xrays of your pet kids bones.

Long and short, together we can help extend the life of your pet companion. By working together to provide the best in preventative health, you and your pet kid can live a happy and healthy life. Don't hesitate to let us know how we can help!

Let's celebrate our senior pets this September! Bring them in for 25% off their organ function screening and a free dental assessment!
